The Features of Mold Surface Treatment Technology

General CVD processing temperature: Bernex high-temperature coating is 900-1050 ℃; BernexMTCVD middle  coating  temperature is 720-900 ℃. The range of coating thickness is 5-12mm, but in some cases, the coating thickness can up to 20mm,  the range of process time is 8-24h. 

1.CVD technology has the following characteristics:
(1) coating material (chromium carbide coating) has high toughness, hardness can up to HV2500-3800, anti-oxidation temperature can up to 900 ℃.
(2)it can be carried out simultaneously technical processing workpieces in large quantities, can significantly improve the mold manufacturing efficiency.
(3) Don’t need the rotating parts in the high-temperature treatment reactor .
(4) Both with a complex geometry or with hole parts can achieve a highly uniform coating thickness.
(5) It has a very good high temperature oxidation resistance.

2. Typical coating applications
In forging aluminum alloy, forming, HSM extrusion coating on the mold, carbide die TiN / TiC coating and other surface treatment, CVD coating technology performance is much higher than PVD coating technology. The reason is that the high temperature CVD coatings, strong performance of coating combination, the coating can be selected on 5 ~ 20mm thickness, but it also has good high temperature oxidation resistance, therefore it has a good result on the high-speed steel trimming die and extrusion die application .

3. Economic Analysis
CVD coating technology has a very substantial economic performance in terms of the mold surface modification:
(1) it can improve the life of mold, improve the wear resistance of the mold, reduce die cost of the product,
(2) it can significantly improve the mold parts molded product surface quality and significantly increase productivity, reduce product scrap rate and improve process stability.
(3)  it can reduce maintenance time and maintenance cost of the mold, reduce equipment downtime and increase productivity.
